Oyster dredging in the Carrick Roads

A limited edition print from an original watercolour.

Carrick Roads is the only place in the UK where oysters can only be dredged by traditional methods. This means that the Falmouth Working Boats are the last fleet of fishing boats to still ply their trade under sail in Western Europe.  Here we see 'Ada', one of the oldest original Falmouth oyster dredgers, on a calm and windless October afternoon.  (Yes this is the same image as 'Ada' at the top of this page - just painted in a different media).
