This was another commission for the clients that commissioned the High Tide Restronguet Creek painting, again – the view from their cottage.
When deciding on the two paintings, we were looking through phone photos as a pointer towards ideas.
This was the other photo that stood out – a sunrise shot at low tide which was a complete opposite to their other choice. It was incredibly complicated with a Mackerel sky, but again, not big enough to work from, so I needed similar reference of a better quality, but ideally without quite such an involved sky.
After seven or eight trips over with little success of useable photos, mainly as weather conditions didn’t materialise as hoped, I finally had a morning which looked promising. As I sat there in the early hours, waiting, absolutely freezing and barely able to feel my hands to click the shutter, the colours started to build with the imminent arrival of the morning sun. I was hopeful this could be the useable reference I was after. As soon as the sun broke the tree-line of Feock, I knew this was the shot.
A stunning sunrise over a beautiful and incredibly tranquil Restronguet Creek— perfect.
