Your ‘go-to happy place’, captured forever in oil — a favourite view, a special beach, or somewhere with a personal meaning all of its own.

Or any preferred scenic location, wherever it may be.

I can work from photographs you supply, use my own existing ones, or try to get exactly what you want. If I can’t source the image, I’m in contact with many photographers specialising in Cornish views — with their permission we can sometimes purchase from their far more extensive libraries. If I can’t help, they may have the image you need.

My aim is for this to be an enjoyable process from start to finish — and it has been throughout my career. If you’d like reassurance, just ask: I’m happy to pass on recommendations from many of my past ‘happy’ clients (see the case studies at the foot of this page).

Clients come back — again & again

One thing I notice is that a lot of my clients don’t just have the one painting — they come back, time and time again.

My biggest client & supporter now has over twenty originals. What more of an endorsement could I ever wish for? Because she’s lovely — and my biggest supporter — she has even offered a private viewing of her collection to anyone in Cornwall considering a commission.

“I’m thinning down my other artwork collection, so I can be surrounded by ‘Jamie Medlins’.”

Nothing leaves the studio until I’m happy with it (often to my own financial detriment) — but if I’m happy, then hopefully you should be too.

My simple aim

To do justice to the beauty which has inspired people forever — and which keeps bringing people back, year after year, even those not lucky enough to live here. I’m fascinated by the nuances of light, from minute to minute, affected by the time of day, weather conditions, seasons and tides. Together these create an infinite possibility of scenes and moods, all of which can be pleasing to the viewer. Cornwall’s beauty is unquestionably stunning — if I can replicate it, my job is almost done.

Before you get in touch

A note on timing & process

There is a waiting list

For a special occasion, please get in touch at the earliest opportunity — the process can take some time from initial discussions to completion.

Some paintings can take months

There are other commitments too, including the RSMA Annual Exhibition every year, which can affect timings.

Last-minute?

If it’s a last-minute thing, the diary can sometimes be moved around to accommodate urgent requests — but if this can be avoided, it would help me a lot!
Best not to have a stressed artist painting your picture!
